Rivers Edge Shoppe began as a dream of owner and founder Nancy White. For years friends and family had told her she had a natural gift for making decorations for her home. So in 1997 she put her gift to a public test by creating flower arrangements for her daughter's wedding. After that success, it wasn't long and she was off and running making flowers for several other weddings. But she was still dabbling in the business and working from her home.

In 2003, Nancy and husband Jim decided to take the big step of opening a store in a charming little bungalow on the Rock River near Tony's Pizza in Waupun.

Our intention was to arrange silk flowers for weddings and other special occasions,she said.I wanted a place of business where brides could come and get the attention they deserve.

While Nancy enjoyed serving bridal needs with everything from bouquets to table favors, she wanted to offer more at her store. She started experimenting with making her own candles. After roughly a year of research and testing, Nancy landed on her own special formula for Rivers Edge soy wax candles.

I spent hours and a small fortune making sure I had created the best possible candle, she said. "I couldn't be prouder of the end product. Our 100 percent soy candles have a superb scent throw and burn evenly every time."

The Shoppe carries a wide variety or candles to choose from including pillars, Bouquet of Candles and Candy Candle Melt-a-ways.The scented soy wax is even available in chipped form for alternative burning methods.

But Nancy wasn't finished. She also started carrying a variety of unique home decor options for her customers. She eventually added a gourmet food line, jewelry, framed art and much more.

Her latest creation is hand made soap.

Our fragrant soaps have wonderful lathering qualities along with being mild and moisturizing, said Nancy.

Rivers Edge has grown since its humble beginnings as a store front for Nancy's bridal flower business. In fact, the Shoppe carries almost double the products for customers and now focuses more on home decor and Nancy's hand made creations from her candles and soap to silk flower swags and arrangements. But that doesn't mean you brides are out of luck. Nancy still provides full service for weddings, but by appointment only.

What separates us from the rest is our personal touch, said Nancy. "We will personalize any candle or soap with your favorite color and fragrance, including Word Art Soaps.No job is too small."

Upon request, Nancy will fill your favorite candle container with her scented soy wax.
Another personalized service Rivers Edge provides is in- house decorating consultations. Upon request, Nancy will come into your home and give you a personalized decorating consultation. (This service is limited to east Wisconsin.)
